Dear Amnet,

If you disable my swipe-card access, let me know, so that I don't expect to be able to access my systems at 11:00PM at night, only to find that you've removed my access. If you're reviewing it, and you decide I don't need it, please tell me, so I can tell you how fucking wrong you are.

Matt

Perian media plugin 0

For those of us with Macs, this is the best media plugin you'll find around.

It adds a whole range of codecs to Apple's Quicktime Player, meaning that you can thumbnail (and Quickview, for Leopard users) AVI and WMV files now too.

It's very simple to install (download the DMG file, it'll mount, double-click the Swiss army knife icon) and works exactly as advertised.

Stock server causes issues 0

At approximately 10:30AM today the Aurora Stock Server's database became corrupt. This caused system-wide database issues.

The table that was causing the problems had over 7.5 million records, each recording an instance in which data had been served. This table crashed, and as incoming requests piled up the database server was having difficulty handling the increased load. I've since altered the stock server code and we no longer log each data request.

I sincerely apologise for any inconvenience that our clients would have experienced during this outage, and precautions have been taken to ensure that this kind of outage does not occur again.

There was no data loss during this period, and all services have been successfully restored.
