Time to level up

Last night at jiu jitsu our coach Adam informed us that the club has a grading coming up next Thursday. During the class Adam told Aaron that he wants him to grade to his first blue tip and me to my fourth.

The grading for my white-4 will be exactly the same as the grading I have for my blue, which should be within the next 4-6 months. If that's accurate it means I was a white belt for 2 ½ years, which is about the standard that the club is pushing now.

This gives us just over a week to prepare, which should be heaps now that we're part of the (non)exclusive West Perth Outdoor Grappling club.

I’ll have to take some promo photos of a “(non)exclusive West Perth Outdoor Grappling club” meet up sometime ;)

Yeah it feels like it went pretty fast, but remember I was training before I went to America (only just).

I was surprised to come back after a month and a half off and be told to grade. It does feel just recently though that I’ve moved past being able to track a move in drills to being able to apply it (albeit slowly) while rolling and also can see it coming when someone tries to apply to me.

I think I’ve had it WAY easier though having Matt to train with :) In fact I know it.

Will be good to move past ‘just another white belt’ status :)
