Go buy a Vax, now

I’ve been annoyed with our vacuum cleaner recently so it was time to buy a new one. My folks have always had a Vax and after about 15 years it’s still going strong.

I went to Rick Hart in Vic Park and their range was dismal so I carried on down the road to Harvey Norman in Cannington. I bought this:

VAX VZ-801 Zero VX

The machine is a Vax VZ-801 Zero VX. Say that three times fast. It was ticketed at $599 and the salesman knocked it down to $499 without any strong-arming. They couldn’t fit it into the box so he brought it down by a further $25. Still, $475 for a vacuum cleaner is a fair whack, but after its first run over the living room carpet it was clear where our money went.

This machine sucks. Really, really well. Considering that Jacob had vacuumed the floor only a few hours previously I wasn’t expecting great results but that was not to be. It’s a cyclonic cleaner which means you see the dust flying around so you know it’s doing something. Out of the living room alone I extracted about 3-4 cups of dust balls. Yeah, that’s a lot. Because it’s a standup cleaner it also has this rotating bar which tears up the carpet and pulls the shit out at the base.

Lastly, there’s a frickin’ LED spotlight on the front so you can vacuum in the dark, or at the discotheque.

Although you got a great deal, shame I didn’t know because through my work I can get an amazing discount at Harvey Norman in city west (cost price but 5%). If you ever need to buy any other big ticket electrical items let me know, I’ll hook you up. But cool on the flash Vax!

After all you’ve said about this vacuum cleaner, I’m really not going to be suprised when I hear about a naked vacuuming “accident”. Be careful buddy, that rotating bar could do some permanent damage.

That is good to know Melinda. We used to have a source that would get us cost-price gear, but I posted about how I got a cheap TV on lambie.org and it got back to the store when someone printed out the page and went in asking for the same deal. There weren’t any repercussions for our contact but it was still stupid of me - I forgot people outside my immediate friends actually read this!
