Soundwave is born 6

The latest addition to The Frontier Group has been deployed - soundwave.thefrontiergroup.net.au.

Soundwave will be taking over the role of our dedicated Harmony Backup server, as wheeljack was running low on disk space and has other things to worry about (monitoring, secondary DNS).

Soundwave has a RAID 5 array providing 750GB of accessible storage (three times what wheeljack has at present), with a hot-spare ready to jump in if anything goes pear-shaped. He also has a dual-core 3.4 GHz processor, so he's fairly good with numbers.

New mobile phone 3

CWS31AFW_16543high_1507_0_4000After losing my phone over the weekend I found myself having to replace it Monday morning. The whole process was surprisingly painless and Vodafone reissued my SIM in a matter of minutes. I decided to get the Sony k800i, after Mark's rave reviews. I've followed his advice before and it ended up hurting me, so he knows how much he's going to cop it if his brand (yes, Sony is his baby) fails me yet again :)

it has a 3.2 megapixel camera with a real flash, which was part of the reason I liked it. I need to get into the mindset of snapping photos for my Flickr account and I had toyed with the idea of buying a "real" camera but in reality I think it would sit at home forgotten about more often than not. In contrast, my phone goes everywhere, so having a decent camera attached to it might actually work. There's no zoom (well, digital, but that doesn't count) but that's fine too. The interface is snappier than the current batch of Nokias too.

It initially didn't like syncing with iCal but I found a plugin that updated the phone libraries. £1.49 later and Bluetooth was dancing. I initially forgot the pairing code for my headset (it's a Jabra BT500, and the code is "0000") but that works fine and dandy now too.

I’m a shareholder :) 0

I bought my first shares in a listed company today. I'd first been told about them back in April, when the shares were at about 13c. They're now at just over 50c which would have been a delightful profit if I had've acted sooner, but I wasn't in a position to.

I bought 1100 shares so it's a very small investment, but it's a start!

Dancin’ shoes 4

Finally, the proof that Hale's been looking for. Proof that I like boys.

Or I'm showing off my new wrestling shoes. No, that's not me in the picture.

I bought them on Friday to help me train with my injured toes. Me second-smallest toe on my left foot is still very sore. I think it's still broken. Unfortunately the only way to heal a broken toe is to rest it, but with the Nationals less than two weeks away I'm trying to get as much mat time as possible.

They're very light and already have helped me with my confidence "shooting" (driving forward, dropping down and attacking both legs for a double-leg takedown) while injured. Thanks Dan Gable!

Lost ‘phone 0

I appear to have lost my phone down south. If you need to contact me Adam's the best way though the day, and Maggie at night.

If you find it please let me know :)
