New mobile phone
After losing my phone over the weekend I found myself having to replace it Monday morning. The whole process was surprisingly painless and Vodafone reissued my SIM in a matter of minutes. I decided to get the Sony k800i, after Mark’s rave reviews. I’ve followed his advice before and it ended up hurting me, so he knows how much he’s going to cop it if his brand (yes, Sony is his baby) fails me yet again :)
it has a 3.2 megapixel camera with a real flash, which was part of the reason I liked it. I need to get into the mindset of snapping photos for my Flickr account and I had toyed with the idea of buying a “real” camera but in reality I think it would sit at home forgotten about more often than not. In contrast, my phone goes everywhere, so having a decent camera attached to it might actually work. There’s no zoom (well, digital, but that doesn’t count) but that’s fine too. The interface is snappier than the current batch of Nokias too.
It initially didn’t like syncing with iCal but I found a plugin that updated the phone libraries. £1.49 later and Bluetooth was dancing. I initially forgot the pairing code for my headset (it’s a Jabra BT500, and the code is “0000″) but that works fine and dandy now too.
So my phone got spewed… how is this phoen working out? I’m not a fan of the look but for anyone wondering how did this phoen go for you ?
Yeah sucks to be using the chunderphone.
So far I’m pretty happy with the Sony, but like I’ve said, I reserve all judgement until it breaks and then Mark (and Richie) are gonna cop it. Seriously though, there’s a stack of features it has that I don’t use, but as a phone it’s pretty well rounded and the camera is a fantastic addition. 3.2 megapixels with a decent flash is pretty good.
I should point out that video calls work great (so long as you have 3G coverage) and snapping a photo and emailing it to Flickr directly is a nifty solution, for my needs.
There’s an option to “blog this” which I’d like to see integrated with Flickr, but I think it only works with Google’s Blogger at the moment.
