“I’ll never use maths in the real world”
I always used to laugh at the dumb kids at school who used this arguement to justify them not paying attention. Today I used some maths from primary school.
7x + y = 4720 5x + y = 3620 .: 2x = 1100 .: x = 550 7(550) + y = 4720 .: y = 4720 - 7(550) .: y = 870
Here x is the charge per page, and y is the base rate that Webfirm have quoted a client of ours for a new web site. Yes, $550 per page and $870 just to start a project.
AuroraCMS has no limitations on the number of pages you can have within a site, and we sell it for about half what they're selling a static 8-page site for. Webfirm, thanks for making this so easy.
I wonder if those “dumb” kids can spell argument….
;)
I bet they could.
You did algebra in primary school? I don’t remember touching that until year 8. I guess you are a genius though :)
I don’t think I did algebra until high school either.
$550/page is insane though.
I didn’t use that argument as an excuse for not paying attention in maths, but it was the reason why maths was of very little interest to me. However, I would change the ‘never’ in that statement to ’seldom’. I stopped doing maths in Year 10 and it hasn’t made my life harder in any way. Algebrise THAT!
I think the word you are looking for is Algebradise that or for the Americans Algebradize.
:)
Maths is hard!
*Girly laugh*
