Dear Channel 10
Constantly claiming that "The Wedge" is a "hilarious new comedy" doesn't actually make it so. In fact, it probably helps make it one of the worst shows on television. Seriously, it's crap.
The only partially funny person is the fat chick that played Tula on SBS' Pizza.
Partially.
Haha. Too true.
I never even bothered to watch it or start to as the adverts of it looked like some old relic they dug out from years ago.
As with any Australian comedies I find them all utter crap, I dont think I’ve found one that really makes me laugh.
Chaser is the only funny one today!
I gave the wedge 5 minutes to impress me yesterday, it didnt get beyond 30 seconds with the chicks the pokies.
I then watched some arrested development and an interesting doco about meth on SBS
I gave it about three minutes but coldn’t be bothered turning it off so I cursed at the TV for an hour about how shit it was.
“Tula” was only partially funny when she was in skits on her own. The pokie chicks are so fucking annoying!
It’s a shame if “the Wedge” is the best comody a comercial station can produce.
However I must admit that “Thank god you’re here” wasn’t bad for a laugh. They often had some pretty funny people on that show.
Its a shame really, australian comercial TV stations refuse to admit that the golden days of Aussie sketch comedy are over. We’ve had our fun, we all had a great laugh with Fast Forward and the eventual Full Frontal, but those days are gone. Seriously, I die a little inside when I am forced to watch talented Australian actors galavant around on B grade comedy sketches written by execs who fantasize that they even have half the salt of writers of years now gone.
I can understand, theres very little work for actors in australia now so you take what you get and make it work the best you can. But Shows like The Wedge are a failing medium and we should just let it die. Honestly, this is turning into a weekend at bernies complex where everytime one sketch comedy show dies, we dig up the body, slap some fresh paint on the corpse and parade it around like its someone the public havent seen. And canned laughter? give me a break. why dont they just flash a sign on the screen that says “Laugh now”and save the audience the trouble of wondering wether the station actually thinks that they’re stupid and dont know when to laugh.
Now ‘Thank god your here’ was a great show. New talent mixed with old favourites, a new setting, new format and the audience response was real and genuine. And what happened? Its gone. Fuck it, I’m just gonna start reading more.
