Been on this path of life for so long
Feel I’ve walked a thousand miles
Sometimes strolled hand in hand with love
Everybody’s been there
With danger on my mind I would stay on the line of hope
I knew I could make it
Once I knew the boundaries I looked into the clouds and saw
My face in the moonlight
Just then I realised what a fool I could be
Just cause I look so high I don’t have to see me
Finding a paradise wasn’t easy but still
There’s a road going down the other side of this hill
Never forget where you’ve come here from
Never pretend that it’s all real
Someday soon this will be someone else’s dream
Been safe from the arms of disappointment for so long
Feel each day we’ve come too far
Yet each day seems to make much more
Sure is good to be here
I understand the meaning of ’i can’t explain this feeling’
Now it feels so unreal
At night I see the hand that reminds me of the stand I make
The fact of reality
Never forget where you’ve come here from
Never pretend that it’s all real
Someday soon this will be someone else’s dream
We’ve come so far and we’ve reached so high
And we’ve looked each day and night in the eye
And we’re still so young and we hope for more
But remember this
We’re not invincible, we’re not invincible - no
We’re only people, we’re only people
Hey we’re not invincible, we’re not invincible
So again I’ll tell you
Never forget where you’ve come here from
Never pretend that it’s all real
Someday soon this will be someone else’s dream
Don't forget the stomp-stomp-clap, stomp-stomp-clap. Things were easier back then... when songs meant nothing ;P
Adam and I had a few meetings in Sydney after the Linux conference in Canberra. It wasn't all parting :)
One of the guys we were meeting was running late, so we had to reschedule the meeting for the airport lounge just before we flew out. We got there earlier than normal because of this, and grabbed a drink.
Adam spied Kerry Packer over in the corner reading a newpaper and having a coffee. We figured he was waiting for a connecting flight out of Sydney, and thought we could capitalize on him being there. I went over and introduced myself, explaining him how we were meeting a client and how we we're a couple of youg guys running a developing business. I asked him if he'd come and pretend to know us when he saw our client arrive; talk about give us serious credability... I guess he understood our situation and thought if he could help out he would, because when I gave him a nod he start to come over!
So we're showing the client some code we've been working on, and Adam's pointing out a new feature he'd developed earlier in the week. Kerry strolled up to the table and held out his hand to shake mine saying "Hi there Matt. It's been a while, how's things?"
Then I said "Fuck off Kerry. Can't you see we're working here?"
Credit goes to Mark for telling me this joke the other day. Apologies to those that heard me tell it at their engagement party on Saturday. I think it's a classic.
They never worked how I expeted them to, andthis code changes that. Check it out if you use WP. I've gone back to using WP as a for simple image store rather than my gallery.
I bought 2 x 64MB sticks of RAM for my Sun ULTRA 5 off eBay the other day for the huge sum of US$6.00. Postage made it AUS$18 which I thought was reasonable. Here's what's changed:
These graphs were taken over a two day time period, and the change was significant I thought. Now the Sun isn't paging out to disk anywhere near what it was previously (which was all the time) so it's running much faster and appears more responsive.
