Not Wicked: Dealership stickers
Emma’s Dad just got a new Toyota Kluger which got us talking… We all hated how dealerships put stickers all over cars that they sell. I especially hate how some dealerships use the car’s existing badges as part of their advertising, by putting transfers directly on the paintwork.
I just hate 4wds :)
The worst thing is when you see a car with the wrong brand on the number plate surrounds. Also when my dad had company cars (Fords) he used to take them to a different dealer for servicing than the one where it was bought from, they would remove the old sticker and put their one on, clowns.
I am also pleased that you no longer have to have CAUTION LEFT HAND DRIVE in big red writing on the back of some cars.
The Kluger is all wheel drive, not 4wd :) My dad’s a soccer mum!
You didn’t say if the Kluger had either of these? (stickers/badgework on the paint/number plate surrounds)? or was it just inspiration for the conversation.
Aaron: You hate 4wd’s? or you hate 4wd’s in Perth? Because 4wd’s are extremely useful for 4wdriving, towing large objects, carrying extreme amounts of gear etc…
Yes, I hate this!
Parkland Mazda and Golden Motors are bad at this.
I don’t mind number plate borders with advertising (because you can remove them). But dealer stickers that go over the paint work should be banned!
BTW, I hate people that buy 4WD’s that never leave the road.
If you want to pick up your 100’s of kids, buy a Van!
I’m all for the council over east charging people with petrol wasting 4WD’s more to park in the city.
Why stop there? They should also pay more for stamp duty :)
If you don’t want the stickers, ask for them to be removed before you purchase the vehicle, and make sure to tell them you will go elsewhere to buy the vehicle if they won’t do it. The dealer isn’t holding a gun to your head, he’s at your mercy because you are the one with the money.
Lanzon: people do pay more for stamp duty in NSW on 4wds, but it is indirect - they pay more because of the larger engine and heavier vehicle mass, not because all the wheels of the car are used to push the vehicle. Be careful with the petrol wasting comments too mate, you drive a Commodore :)
I very much like 4wds, having grown up with them to tow boats along the beach where 2wd cars fear to tread. These were 1.8L Subarus though, not V8 Landcruisers, which use much less fuel and have fewer emissions than a Commodore or Falcon. Should the smaller 4wds be treated the same as the large ones?
I also think that its a free country, people should be able to buy what they wish, so if people both want and can afford a 4wd, they should be able to have one and other people should respect their choices.
I’m just not a fan of (unnecessary) larger vehicles that impede my view. I understand some people need them for work or recreation, but most never see anything but bitchumen and are there just to either kill the other person in a crash or as a status symbol.
So its more the bigness of 4wd that gets me, every time i pull up to an intersection and have to try and see past one it just pisses me off. Unfortunately this is happening more and more these days.
I drive a challenger and its a big car compared to my lancer.
I live in the country and while i dont do loads of 4wding as such, i have been on may gravel tracks and the towing ability of this car is one of the main reaons we bought it.
after seeing what was left of my dads near new berlina on sunday after he rolled it in manjimup (cars a write off but thankfully my brother and father are in good shape) there is no way on earth i would consider driving something smaller on country roads.
I am now lookng at upgrading the lancer to a patrol so i dont need to worry so much when the wife goes up to perth.
yes i also agree with the “larger car higher parking fee’s” concept. free parking for scooters and motorbikes + size based parking fees in perth would be fantastic.
multi level car parks having very motorcycle parking on 1st floor, followed by small car bays on the next few floors and so on working thier way up to parking for landcruisers, dodge ram’s and HumVee’s :P
I beleive if you can afford to have a massive car and run it with all the costs for tyres maintenance etc then yes you can also pay more for parking and licensing (we already pay more for licensing etc of a 4wd wagon over something like a commodore)
and dont even get me started on the stickers…. Goldy Holden told my dad if he wanted his berlina without stickers he could wait for the next lot to come in (4 weeks) so he flipped them the bird and bought one form Youngs Holdent he next day…. now its a wrecked POS it doesnt matter that much :)
I have no problem with 4wds if they stay off the m1. when you are travelling at 110 ks in bumper to bumper traffice you want to be able to see in front of you. My suggestion is that one lane becomes a tall vehcile lane in high traffic high speed areas. If is very frustrating when you want to travel in the fast lane and a 4wd gets in it you cant see in front of it and when you pass on the middle lane you realise there are no cars in front
