Ripping Xbox ISOs on Linux 2

If you're ripping or creating Xbox ISOs on Linux, you need extract-xiso. It's without a doubt the coolest little application I have on Duke.

It'll even let me rip the ISO file straight to the Xbox over FTP. I think that's really cool, though I'm yet to try it out.

With this in the collection, I've been able to 100% recover all the functionality of the Windows 2003 server with an Ubuntu server, and that's not including the extra functionality I've gained. And the stability. And securtiy. And, well you should all know what I'm talking about.

Not Just One or the Other 0

I worked out today, or perhaps a while ago and I remembered today, that I don't like Summer more than Winter, and vice-versa. I like change. It's the time when the sun is setting later and later, and the days are longer and warmer that I like. And I like that just as much as the time when the sun is setting earlier and earlier and the days are getting cooler.

I'm in my prime now, with today being the last day of Summer (we've got about 5 1/2 hours left here in Perth).

Syntax Highlighting: Vim to HTML Comments Off

I have seen a few different websites that offer their code in a colour-coded format online which makes reading it much easier. I even found GeSHi which provides an API in PHP for people that want to embed the same thing in their own pages. I was going to write a simple form interface that meant when I had a code snippet that I wanted to put on lambie.org, I could make it pretty.

Then I found that Vim has this built-in.

#include <stdio.h>

int main() {
    printf("Hello, world\n");
    return(0);
}

The above is a result of entering:

:TOhtml

You can force CSS by:

:let html_use_css=1

I found that it didn't work as well as forcing FONT tags.

Good Vibrations 2005 2

It's not uncommon to see me hype events up on lambie.org to spur some interest and make them known to others that might be interested. It is however not common for me to later write about how the events went. This doesn't mean I didn't have a good time - I am normally just too lazy :)

I had so much fun yesterday that I need to let the world know.

Everyone bar Mark and Gordon met at our house at around 10:00AM. We had a pretty big crew going: Mags and myself, Mark and Emma, Richie and Dan, Fitzy and Steve, Alex, Dave (from Kalgoorlie) and Emma (works with Mags). I gave Adam his Mr T haircut and we had a few drinks. I drove Mags' car out to Belvoir and we had a few more drinks in the carpark/paddock before entering. Maggie burnt her leg on an exhaust pipe but a visit to first aid would later fix that up.

Vodaphone had their portable volleyball pit there so the "A-Team" showed the others how it's done. I nailed some really bad shots, blaming the lack of rear net. I also nailed some wicked spikes. The other team had one or two good players, so we swept the floor with them. I got sand all over my face and down my pants - what a great way to start the day! We didn't get any boy-leg knickers this time, which was a disappointment. They're really cool :)

I wandered around for a while and went to the Bacardi Bbar for 10 minutes. Jazzanova were on and not impressing me. I saw Amanda and we wandered off to see Cath in the amphitheatre. The grass apmhitheatre is an awesome venue.

I chatted with Cath for a while; it's always good to see her. Lee was there too, along with a new guy I met Adam and some other girls which I don't think I formally got introduced to.

The first act I really paid any attention to was the Cuban Brothers Ant Fiddler - four black dudes with massive afros and matching grins. Their music was pretty laid back, and caused some people to wander over to Bugz in the Attic. I thought they were both great acts, but especially enjoyed the Bugz. I'd never heard of them, but Rich had been amping them up so I gave them a shot and was impressed.

Straight up was Arrested Development, and they didn't disappoint. All their hits were there: Tennessee, Mr. Wendel and People Everyday were played and the crowed loved it. I danced for their entire set and was very impressed.

I got a break for a few minutes before Mylo and ran into Hoops' sister, Clair. She was chilling with a dude in the little white tent and jumped at the offer to come and ramp it up with me on the dance floor at Mylo. We danced heaps and I had a great time there too. She wanted to go and see Lyrics Born and I was going to go with her and Steve. I climbed the stairs, went and told Mags that was what I was doing, and then rethought the idea when Adam messaged me saying he was on the dance floor 'cos the Scissor Sisters were on in 10.

NFD; I wasn't missing the Scissor Sisters so I set sail to meet Fitzy. We secured an area and roared when the Sisters came on. A highlight of their set was when I got about 70 people to link their arms around each other. It was such a throw-back to ol' skool gurns, even though I wasn't! :) They rocked out with all the tunes I knew and a few I didn't.

For me the highlights were:
• Linking the peeps in the Scissor Sisters
• Dancing it up with Clair - she rules!
• Seeing Mark and Gordon, Amanda, Lee and Cath
• Maggie being drunk and having fun
• Meeting Emma and seeing Dave again

Now Two Tribes :)
