Sony headphones getting bashed 10

MDRG57G_2.jpgI have a paif of Sony headphones (similar, but not exactly the same as those shown) that I bought for use with my laptop.

Until I get my metal case, they are getting bent around in my fabric laptop case. I was wondering, has anyone ever seen a hard-shell protective case for this style of headphones? I was thinking, something like the case you protect sunglasses with would make sense.

Withered? You're the Sony King... any ideas?

Cricket this Sunday 1

I'm heading to some local nets with Gordo on Sunday for a bit of a hit and a bowl. Be at my place for about 2:30PM if you're keen to come down and face some spin for the big man, or want to hit me around the oval.

Sun to open the Looking Glass 6

Rumour has it that Sun are going to release their Project Looking Glass 3D desktop today under the GPL. The announcement is expected to come at their JavaOne Conference.

I first saw this in action earlier this year at a Sun seminar with Adam, and we were amazed. Having it open sourced would mean it could be ported to the Linux desktop quite easily. Will we see a third option compete against the popular Gnome and KDE desktops?

It happened!

19 car smash 1

Steve sent me this link a few moments ago. A dude bought a new car, parked it out the front of his house, then moved it when he went to get some things from the shops. He came back and his parking spot was taken. So he parked elsewhere.

Then he woke up at 2:00AM to hear several smashes, stuck his head outside and found 19 cars either completely or partially smashed up and down his street. They included the car that had taken his parking space ;)

Regular Expression cheat sheet 0

Hale's the only person I know that really knows anything about regular expressions, other than the theory on how they are used. I needed to match a string that began with a space, then a '>' symbol and then another space, and remove it (or replace it with '' if you're thinking in terms of empty strings).

Simple enough, but I couldn't remember how to enforce the 'starts with' rule, meaning that it would only show a positive is the string began with the substring I was looking for. I know, it's basic, but I use regular expressions maybe once a month, so it's not like I am exposed to it daily...

In the end, I found it was:

/^ > /

... thanks to this really useful regular expression guide. It's written especially for Perl, but PHP uses Perl's regular expression through the preg_* range of functions, so it applied nicely.
