Maggie’s birthday party 0

On Saturday we had a party at our place for Maggie, before we left and went into Northbridge. I've added the photos from the night to my gallery, which is now Maggie's gallery too. She has her own album where she'll be uploading all of her digital photographs.

If you want to read more about the night, check out Maggie's Live Journal.

First ride 2

I woke up this morning just after 6:00AM and couldn't get back to sleep. I had just heard Steve get home (big up to the party professional) and didn't really want to have a sleeping pill, so I got some clothes on and went for a ride around the river.

I got my bike back on Tuesday and hadn't taken it for a spin, so it was a great opportunity to test it out. I think it's better to ride now than it was when I bought it! I was supposed to take the bike back after a few months and have the bike shop check the gear and brake cables, lube up the movin' parts and generally tighten what needed tightening, but being the slack mofo that I am, I never did. Now the gears stay where they're meant to, move when they're meant to and the brakes clamp solid.

I didn't want to get bored on the ride, so I dug out an AM/FM radio that Sun Microsystems had given us at the 2003 Australian Linux Conference. It's been replaced with this model (mine's more of an elongated oval, and is the Sun blue and yellow corporate colours):

(It just took me 45 minute to find Sun's logo merchandise catalogue, for a damn picture! :)

What I'd really like is an iPod, but not until they're cheaper, have a 120GB disk inside (so I can use it as general, secondary storage for the laptop) and a colour screen. I might we waiting a while...

I rode down to Labouchere, then to BP and bought a lemon Powerade, and went across the Narrows, along past the Bell Tower, and over the Causeway. I went past Richie's place and came up Coode. All up it took me about 40 minutes, and I can tell I'm really out of shape. I felt great after the ride, but my legs had turned to jelly! I'd really like to have the willpower to get up each morning for a ride, but we all know that's not likely to happen.

Victoria’s not so secret 6

Today we got our favourite catalogue in the mail: the Victoria's Secret Spring Fashion Vol. 2 magazine.

You can always sign up for your own copy of the catalogue, if you like sexay ladies. I used to use the catalogue to wrap presents for people. I thought a DVD was a better present if it 's wrapped in boobs.

To help you enjoy your Friday afternoon further, here's a sample (I trimmed out the crap photos, of shoes, handbags and hair accessories for you ;)

Buy a cheap degree 0

How's this for a funny article?

A few teachers in the US are in trouble after they received pay-rises based on fake degrees, which they have purchased from St Regis University in Liberia. Their tuition fees are quite resonable with a Masters costing $995 and a PHD setting you back $1500. Their assesment is based on "life experience" which is probably why they're being considered worthless by the Gwinnett County school board.

Dr. Lambie.... hmmm...

Random links 1

Steve was asking about a Word of the Day calendar recently: here's Dictionary.com's online version.

Also, if you want to learn about something random, go to WikiPedia's random page.

I'll add these to my links section on the sidebar.
